Tobi Amusan became the first Nigerian ever to win gold at the World Athletics Championships after racing to a stunning world record time of 12.06 seconds, making Nigeria proud, Amusan yet again has done it. She is currently Nigerian’s fastest female athlete, who participated in the world athletics championships 2022, in the 100-meter hurdles race and created two records of 12.12 and 12.06 seconds in one night during the competition.
She recently participated in the ongoing common wealth game 2022 in Birmingham, and she ran the 4×100 meter race also known as the relay race, in which she made the country proud by coming first and then again still in the commonwealth games. She broke another record running the 100meter hurdle race with 12.03 seconds.
“I’m glad to have defended my Commonwealth Games title with two Games Record in the process,” Amusan wrote on her Facebook page after Sunday’s amazing performance.
She thanked her coach, family, and support system for being with her through thick and thin.

She was the C-USA champion in her specialist event and also the runner-up in the 200 meters. In her first outdoor race of 2017, she ran a then lifetime best and UTEP record of 12.63 s in the 100 meters hurdles.

Amusan first broke the 13 s barrier in the hurdles with a time of 12.83 s at the El Paso UTEP Invitational. This eclipsed Kim Turner’s 100 meters UTEP record which had stood for 33 years.
In her first outdoor race of 2017, she ran a then lifetime best and UTEP record of 12.63 s in the 100 meters hurdles. She was the C-USA champion in her specialist event and also the runner-up in the 200 meters.
At the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Amusan claimed the title ahead of Camacho-Quinn who was the champion the previous year. She did this in a personal record time of 12.57s.
Amusan opened her 2022 season by winning the 2022 Diamond League event in Paris, where she set an African record by 0.01s with a time of 12.41s. She was the first Nigerian athlete to win a Diamond League Trophy in 2021 and so on.
