Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has announced a substantial price increase for its Premium+ subscription plan, with Nigeria experiencing one of the highest global increments at 51%.

The Premium+ plan, which offers an ad-free experience and other advanced features, will now cost Nigerian users ₦34,000 per month, up from ₦22,550. Price adjustments vary by region, with U.S. users seeing a rise from $16 to $22 (37.5%), European Union users paying €21 instead of €16, and Canadian users facing an increase from $20 to $29 (45%).

The new pricing took effect on December 21, 2024, for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will continue at their current rates until their billing cycles renew after January 20, 2025. X noted that prices might differ based on location, applicable taxes, and payment method fees.

In a statement, X explained that the revised pricing reflects ongoing enhancements to the platform. Premium+ now guarantees a completely ad-free browsing experience, a feature that significantly influenced the price adjustment. Subscribers also gain access to advanced tools such as Radar, higher limits on cutting-edge Grok AI models, and priority support from @Premium. Additionally, subscription fees now contribute directly to X’s evolving creator program, which rewards content quality and engagement over ad impressions.
“These changes allow us to invest more in making Premium+ better over time,” the company stated.

The price increase does not affect X’s standard Premium subscription plan, which remains at ₦3,650 per month or ₦38,500 annually in Nigeria. X emphasized its commitment to delivering value to users and creators through these updates, ensuring that Premium+ subscribers enjoy a superior and evolving experience.
