These airlines halt flights amid escalating tensions in the Middle East

Concerns about a potential wider conflict in the Middle East have led international airlines to suspend flights to the region or avoid affected airspace. Below is a list of airlines that have adjusted their services to and from the area:

 

AEGEAN AIRLINES: The Greek airline has canceled flights to and from Beirut until November 6 and to and from Tel Aviv until November 5.

AIRBALTIC: Latvia’s airBaltic has canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv until November 30.

AIR ALGERIE: The Algerian airline has suspended flights to and from Lebanon until further notice.

AIR FRANCE-KLM: Air France has extended its suspension of flights from Paris to Tel Aviv until October 29 and from Paris to Beirut until November 30. – KLM has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until at least the end of this year.

Transavia, the low-cost unit of the Franco-Dutch group, has canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv, Amman, and Beirut until the end of March.

AIR INDIA: The Indian flag carrier has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv until further notice.

BULGARIA AIR: The Bulgarian airline has canceled flights to and from Israel until October 31.

CATHAY PACIFIC: The Hong Kong-based airline has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until October 25, 2025.

DELTA AIR LINES: The U.S. carrier has paused flights between New York and Tel Aviv through March 2025.

EASYJET: The UK budget airline stopped flying to and from Tel Aviv in April and plans to resume flights on March 30.

EGYPTAIR: The Egyptian airline announced in September that it has suspended flights to Beirut until “the situation stabilizes.”

EMIRATES: The UAE’s state-owned airline has canceled flights to Beirut through October 31 and flights to Baghdad and Tehran until October 30.

ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES: The Ethiopian carrier has suspended flights to Beirut until further notice, according to a Facebook post from October 4.

FLYDUBAI: The Emirati airline has suspended flights from Dubai to Beirut until October 31.

IAG:  British Airways, owned by IAG, has canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv through October 26.

Iberia Express, another IAG low-cost airline, has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until October 31, while Vueling has suspended operations to Tel Aviv until January 12 and to Amman until further notice.

IRAN AIR: The Iranian airline has canceled flights to Beirut until further notice.

IRAQI AIRWAYS: The Iraqi national carrier has suspended flights to Beirut until further notice.

ITA AIRWAYS: The Italian carrier has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv through November 30.

LOT: The Polish flag carrier has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until October 26, with the first scheduled flight to Beirut planned for April 1.

LUFTHANSA GROUP:  The German airline group has extended the suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until November 10, while its low-cost carrier Eurowings has suspended flights until November 30.

Flights to Tehran are canceled until October 31, and to Beirut until November 30.

SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has suspended flights to Beirut through December 17.

PEGASUS: The Turkish airline has canceled flights to Beirut until October 28.

QATAR AIRWAYS: The Qatari airline has temporarily suspended flights to and from Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon, while flights to Amman will operate only during daylight hours.

RYANAIR: Europe’s largest budget airline has canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of December. The Group CEO, Michael O’Leary, mentioned on October 3 that this suspension is likely to be extended until the end of March.

SUNDAIR: The German airline has canceled flights to Beirut from Berlin until December 8, from Bremen until March 26, and from Münster/Osnabrück until March 29.

TAROM: Romania’s flag carrier has extended the suspension of flights to Beirut until November 15.

UNITED AIRLINES: The Chicago-based airline has suspended flights to Tel Aviv for the foreseeable future.

VIRGIN ATLANTIC: The UK airline has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until the end of March.

WIZZ AIR: The Hungary-based airline has suspended flights to Tel Aviv through January 14.

 

The swift response from these airlines reflects their commitment to ensuring passenger safety while closely monitoring the evolving situation. The resumption of services will likely depend on further developments in the region and assurances of stability.
