Aviation technology specialist SITA has integrated IPS Intelligent Passenger Solutions into its SITA Airports portfolio, establishing what is claimed to be a new “gold standard” in the sector. Now branded as “IPS a SITA company,” this integration enhances the range of self-service and touchless products available to airports and passengers. This development follows SITA’s acquisition of IPS, which was completed in July after fulfilling regulatory and legal requirements. The combined expertise of both companies aims to streamline various airport processes, including check-in, baggage handling, and security operations.
Passengers can expect reduced wait times and smoother journeys as IPS a SITA company collaborates with existing airport operations, passenger processing, and baggage systems. This merger is anticipated to usher in a new era of personalized digital services for travelers. The SITA Airports portfolio, now augmented by IPS a SITA company, continues to provide the latest technologies to the aviation sector.
These technologies include biometrics, which serve 85% of international air passengers, as well as Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks, Airport Management Systems (AMS), and Airside Optimiser solutions. These advancements are designed to help airports optimize terminal capacities and offer secure, frictionless travel experiences. With the implementation of biometric identification, facial recognition, and self-service options, airports are transforming into digital travel hubs that provide personalized journeys. More than 2,300 Self-Bag Drop kiosks have been deployed across over 120 airports, managing approximately 150,000 bag drops daily. This solidifies IPS a SITA company’s position as the leading provider of end-to-end solutions at airports, with more than 13 billion passengers annually using its systems. Nathalie Altwegg, SITA SVP of Airports, stated,
“Airports worldwide need to adopt technologies that can eliminate unnecessary bottlenecks at critical points such as check-in, security, and embarkation. The addition of IPS a SITA company combines the best of our market-leading SITA and IPS products and expertise to deliver seamless travel experiences. This unmatched gold standard portfolio will empower our airport customers to provide solutions that ensure passengers worldwide enjoy a smoother and more efficient travel experience, free from frustrating and lengthy queues. By integrating CUTE and CUSS kiosks with biometric and facial recognition technology, along with our IPS portfolio, SITA is at the forefront of developments set to reshape the future of airport travel.”
IPS a SITA company offers secure solutions for all common-use passenger touchpoints, including integrated biometric identification, cloud-based services, and smart payment technology. Georg Oschmann, CEO of IPS a SITA company, remarked, “Together, we are setting a new standard in automated passenger handling for the aviation industry. By combining our expertise, we are well-positioned to deliver even greater value to airlines and airports worldwide. Our integration enhances our ability to streamline the passenger journey and drive innovation that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”
