President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers to his cabinet as part of a recent reshuffle. This move also included the dismissal of five previous ministers. The new appointees, along with their professional backgrounds and the ministries they are set to lead, are as follows:
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole: Previously a Senior Special Assistant on Industry, Trade & Investment in the Office of the Vice President, Oduwole will now serve as the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment. She has extensive academic and advisory experience, including roles at Harvard Kennedy School and prior service as Special Adviser on Ease of Doing Business under President Buhari.
Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi: Appointed to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dingyadi previously served as Minister of Police Affairs and has legislative experience as a former member of the House of Representatives.
Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad: An experienced academic and Associate Professor of Chemistry Education, Dr. Ahmad will head the Ministry of Education. She has held leadership roles, such as Provost of Jigawa State College of Education, and holds a Ph.D. in Science Education.
Yusuf Abdullahi Ata: Appointed as Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, Ata has a political background as a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and has represented Fagge constituency.
Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda: Set to lead the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yilwatda was a former governorship candidate in Plateau State and holds advanced degrees in engineering.
Mukhtar Maiha: Appointed to head the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development. He previously managed Zaidi Farms Limited, showcasing his expertise in agriculture and business management.
Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu: Nominated as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Odumegu-Ojukwu’s role includes enhancing Nigeria’s international relations.
