MultiChoice, the company behind DStv and GOtv, has reverted to its previous subscription prices after a court order halted its planned price hike. As of Sunday, June 16, 2024, the firm’s apps show that subscribers are now being charged the old rates after having already paid the increased prices for May 2024. MultiChoice intends to challenge the court order, citing its unfavorable impact on the company’s business model.

Following the change, DStv subscribers must now pay N29,500 for the Premium package (down from N37,000), N19,800 for the Compact+ package (down from N25,000), N12,500 for the Compact Bouquet (down from N15,700), N7,400 for the Confam package (down from N9,300), N4,200 for the Yanga package (down from N5,100), and N2,950 for the Padi package (down from N3,600). As for GOtv, subscribers will pay N12,500 for the Super+ package (down from N15,700), N7,600 for GOtv Super (down from N9,600), N5,700 for GOtv Max, N3,950 for GOtv Joli, and N2,700 for GOtv Jinja (down from N3,300).

It remains unclear whether MultiChoice will provide the free month of subscription as mandated by the court. The company has not officially commented on the matter, citing the ongoing developments. The initial price hike was attributed to the company’s need to keep up with market conditions affected by high inflation and naira devaluation in Nigeria.
