Microsoft hires DeepMind co-founder Suleyman to head new consumer AI organization

Microsoft has hired Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, to lead its newly created organization called Microsoft AI. Suleyman will serve as the CEO of the venture, which will focus on advancing Copilot and other consumer artificial intelligence products. 

 

He will report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. In a blog post, Nadella announced that Mikhail Parakhin and his entire team, including Copilot, Bing, and Edge, as well as Misha Bilenko and the GenAI team, will report to Suleyman as part of the transition. 

 

Karén Simonyan, co-founder and chief scientist of AI company Inflection, will join the group as chief scientist. The blog post also stated that several members of the Inflection team have chosen to join Mustafa and Simonyan at Microsoft.
