Lagos Gears Up for World Tourism Day 2024 with Cultural Showcases and Strategic Partnerships

Lagos State is gearing up to celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 with a series of engaging events and partnerships aimed at promoting tourism, culture, and peace. The celebration, themed “Tourism and Peace,” is scheduled to take place at Muri Okunola Park on September 27, 2024. The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, in collaboration with private-sector partners such as Sterling Bank, will be hosting activities that emphasize the role of tourism in fostering cultural understanding and unity. The event will feature panel discussions with industry experts, exhibitions, and cultural displays that highlight Lagos’ rich heritage.

 

The Lagos State government is also leveraging this occasion to highlight its tourism potential by showcasing historical landmarks like the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture, the National Museum, and Freedom Park. The goal is to boost the tourism sector by promoting Lagos as a vibrant cultural hub and fostering long-term investments in its tourism infrastructure​.

 

This celebration is part of Lagos’ broader efforts to use tourism as a vehicle for peace and economic development, demonstrating the state’s commitment to creating inclusive and prosperous communities through cultural exchange and sustainable investment.
