In a landmark milestone, African fintech leader Flutterwave has received regulatory approval to operate as a payment service provider in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Central Bank granted the license, allowing Flutterwave to offer cross-border payment solutions in one of the Middle East’s most financially progressive economies.
This expansion marks Flutterwave’s formal entry into the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, unlocking a new market for African SMEs to scale internationally. According to CEO Olugbenga Agboola, the move reflects the firm’s long-term goal of building a unified payment ecosystem across continents.
“We are building the bridge for African businesses to expand globally and receive payments anywhere,” said Agboola during a virtual press briefing.
The firm will now facilitate remittances, e-commerce settlements, and enterprise-level payment integration for businesses transacting between Africa and the Gulf.
