Downdetector shows that Meta’s Instagram is back online for most users after outage

Instagram, the photo-sharing platform owned by Meta Platforms (META.O), experienced an outage lasting over three hours on Thursday, as reported by Downdetector.com. However, service has been restored for most users. After more than 5,000 users reported issues with accessing Instagram in the United States around 2230 GMT, the number of outages has come down to around 400. The majority of the reported problems were login issues on the app.

This is not the first time Instagram and Facebook have faced an outage this year. They previously went offline for more than two hours in March due to a technical issue. During that outage, more than 550,000 reports of disruptions for Facebook and about 92,000 for Instagram were recorded at its peak. Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from several sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. As of now, Meta has not responded to a request for comment.
