The Dangote Refinery has announced the export of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to four African countries, including Cameroon, Angola, Ghana, and South Africa. Additionally, the company has begun exporting diesel and jet fuel to European markets.
Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, shared the update while hosting a delegation from the Japanese Business Community in Nigeria, led by Ambassador-designate Suzuki Hideo. According to Edwin, the refinery’s products meet global standards and are gaining recognition in international markets.
“In recent weeks, we’ve exported petrol to Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa, among others. Diesel has reached global destinations, and jet fuel is being widely exported to Europe. Our products are already making a global impact,” Edwin stated.
Highlighting the facility’s origins, Edwin noted that the refinery is the vision of Nigerian entrepreneur Aliko Dangote, designed and constructed by Nigerians to serve international markets.
Ambassador Hideo praised the refinery as a technological marvel, emphasizing its significance as the world’s largest single-train refinery, designed and built by a Nigerian company.
Edwin also expressed openness to collaboration, particularly in technological innovations and business partnerships. “We already utilize Japanese equipment in our refinery and fertiliser plant, and we’re always seeking cutting-edge technology. For example, our cement plant laboratory is fully automated with robots. Japan’s focus on innovation aligns well with our vision, creating significant opportunities for cooperation,” he added.
Furthermore, Edwin highlighted the potential of the Dangote Petrochemical project to stimulate investment in downstream industries, generate employment, boost tax revenues, reduce foreign exchange outflows, and enhance Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
