Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok, announced on Wednesday that Zhang Nan has resigned from her position as CEO of Douyin Group, the popular short video platform’s sister app in China. Zhang confirmed her resignation on her personal social media account on WeChat, and ByteDance also confirmed the news.
Zhang stated that she would be joining the team of Jianying, a video editing app owned by ByteDance, but did not reveal her new position. She expressed her willingness to contribute to the growth of the product in the age of artificial intelligence.
Having worked for ByteDance for a decade, Zhang has been a core leader for the company and contributed to the growth of Douyin, making it the leading short video platform and one of the biggest apps in China. She previously reported to ByteDance’s CEO, Liang Rubo, as head of Douyin Group.
