Apple’s India sales jump 33% to near $8 bln last year, Bloomberg News reports

Apple’s India sales surged 33% to a record nearly $8 billion in the fiscal year ending in March, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing an insider.

According to the report, iPhones contributed to more than half of these sales. Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

In April, Bloomberg News also reported that Apple assembled $14 billion worth of iPhones in India last fiscal year, with up to 14% of its flagship devices manufactured in the country.

Most of the iPhones made in India are produced at the Sriperumbudur plant, located about 25 miles west of Tamil Nadu’s state capital, Chennai
