AI centre in Indonesia to get $200 mln investment from Nvidia, Indosat, government says

Nvidia, a technology company, and PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, a telecommunication firm from Indonesia, plan to establish an artificial intelligence center worth $200 million in Central Java in 2024. Budi Arie Setiadi, the communication minister, stated that the AI center could consist of telecommunication infrastructure or a human resource center and will be located in Surakarta city.

According to Setiadi, Indosat’s CEO explained the investment plan to Surakarta mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the vice president-elect of Indonesia and the son of the current President Joko Widodo. The AI center will be set up in Surakarta city because they have good human resources and 5G infrastructure.
